With this documentary, my goal was to look past the computer screens and examine the escalating “us vs. them” mentality dominating modern political discourse. Social media platforms have evolved from spaces of connection into battlefields of intense hostility. By featuring insights from cyberpsychology experts like Dr. Julie Ancis alongside real, diverse viewpoints from across the political spectrum, the film avoids partisan finger-pointing. Instead, Vitriol examines human behavior and the ways our digital interactions can distort communication, fuel polarization, and ultimately affect our mental health and relationships.
