DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
Before the Snow was an emotionally and physically draining passion project, but one that was well worth the effort for both of us. Chris’s story blurs the line between autobiographical experience and the fictionalized journey of a hospice patient, and we hope the film’s larger themes ring true. We have always been drawn to truly independent and European cinema, particularly films that resist tying everything up in a neat bow by the third act. We wanted Before the Snow to leave room for interpretation—to be personalized, questioned, and discussed well after the final frame.
Making an 83-minute feature on a micro-budget was an enormous undertaking, and the film simply would not exist without the extraordinary commitment of our cast and crew. Their talent, tireless effort, and willingness to embrace the challenges of an ambitious independent production made Before the Snow possible.
